After a year and a half of working as an e-commerce business, Dallas Silk Art recently opened its first brick-and-mortar location at The Colony’s Grandscape. If you haven’t heard of Dallas Silk Art, you may not have heard of water marbling, either. This unique art form gives each customer the chance to design their own scarves, handkerchiefs, coasters, paper products, masks or even pottery.
Water marbling involves floating acrylic paint on top of a base of thickened water. After choosing the colors you’d like, you swirl and move the paint into patterns using a rake-like tool. Once the pattern is to your liking, you can transfer the design onto a fabric by placing it onto the liquid surface.
